What is your creative archetype?
The mystic, visionary, alchemist, archivist, or wild one?
I’ve been thinking a lot about Women Who Run With the Wolves — a bible of sorts for all women. Written by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, each chapter is a study of archetypes and the liberation of women’s deepest desires. Her words cast light on the wild, instinctual self, the part of us that runs like a river just beneath the surface of daily life. The self that knows when to create, when to rest, when to burn it all down, and when to begin again.
As I revisit these tales, I’ve also been reflecting on our creative essence, how it too can be traced back to archetypes echoed in tarot and mythology. Illustrating the way we make and express.
There are five archetypes that speak to the many waters of creativity:
the Mystic, attuned to unseen realms
the Visionary, dreaming what doesn’t yet exist
the Alchemist, transforming pain into beauty
the Archivist, guarding memory and meaning
and the Wild One, creating from instinct and fire
One of these five archetypes is already alive in you. Curious to meet yours in the quiz below?
